MAYA Project #1
For my project i chose to do an Escher inspired castle like area i guess. It took me a while to come up with the general idea of what i was going to make for this assignment. Once i decided on a castle-like structure, i just started and went with it. The end product looks to me like a mesh of a basic Escher drawing and part of a gaming area of some kind. One major thing that went wrong while making this scene was my poly' count! Apparently a few of my bricks got copied a few hundred times and my poly' count went up exponentially and the system was lagging seriously.
More sketching...
A few sketches of body positions and gestures
These are some sketches i did from the movies "Gladiator", and "Snatch." I hurt my ankle this weekend and was not able to really get out and about to sketch people in real life much, so i opted for movies while i rested my foot.
Even though it has been a while since i have sketched anything, i've always had trouble drawing faces well, it's pretty frustrating!
Sketch: Ball Bounce
Quote from "Sketchbook"
If there is a line that sums up this whole reading, i believe that this is it:
"Sketching is to an artist what shadow boxing is to a boxer, keyboard practice is to a concert pianist, practice is to a tennis player, or a participant in any sport (or endeavor)."
I havent sketched in years, not since early in high school from what i can recall. Its going to be hard getting back into it, but i do want to improve my skills, so i have to make it a habbit. I took the advice from this reading and now when i watch movies on my television, i sketch what i see. So far its kinda fun, a little frustrating, but fun.
